My Study Sets doesn't use advertising cookies of any kind. It uses your browser's local storage for a few small first-party pieces of data that make the app actually work, and, unless you opt out, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies to count page views. Everything is listed below.
| Name | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Firebase Auth session | Keeps you signed in between visits. Strictly necessary: without it, you'd have to sign in every time. |
| theme | Remembers your light/dark theme choice. |
| studyRepeatSoon | Remembers your "repeat soon" vs. "repeat at end" preference in flashcards and oral practice. |
| oralSpeechEnabled | Remembers whether read-aloud is turned on in oral practice. |
| oralSpeechVoiceURI | Remembers which text-to-speech voice you picked. |
| downloadedSetIds | Remembers which sets and quizzes you chose to download for offline use on this device. |
| analyticsOptOut | Remembers that you opted out of site analytics on this device. |
| analyticsNoticeSeen | Remembers that you've seen the one-time analytics notice, so it doesn't reappear. |
| _ga | Google Analytics cookie that tells visits apart. Only set unless you opt out; lasts up to two years. |
| _ga_99WY5BHCE1 | Google Analytics cookie that keeps track of the current session. Only set unless you opt out; lasts up to two years. |
| Firebase installation ID | Kept in your browser's IndexedDB by Firebase Analytics so it can tell installs apart. Only used unless you opt out. |
Everything above except the analytics items is either strictly necessary for the app to function (your sign-in session) or a functional preference you set yourself (theme, study settings). None of it is used for advertising or for tracking you across other sites.
The Google Analytics items are different. They're on by default, and we show a short notice the first time you visit rather than asking for opt-in consent up front. You can opt out at any time in Settings under Privacy. Opting out stops collection and deletes the analytics cookies on that device. If your local rules require opt-in consent for analytics cookies, please turn analytics off in Settings under Privacy.
We use Google Analytics, on by default with the opt-out described above, to count page views. We turn off Google's advertising features and don't use it for advertising. We don't use any other third-party tracking, analytics, or advertising scripts. The other third-party services involved are Firebase (hosting, sign-in, and database), Cloudflare Workers AI (only when you use "Explain this term"), and Resend (sending the two transactional emails described in our Privacy Policy). None of those set their own tracking or advertising cookies through this app.
To turn analytics off (or back on), use Settings under Privacy. You can also clear this data any time from your browser's site settings. Clearing it will sign you out, reset your theme and study preferences back to their defaults, and bring back the analytics notice.
